ST. MATTHEW'S SCHOOL

Through our ongoing partnership with St. Matthew’s School in Belize, we support students and teachers, meet practical needs, and invest in relationships that continue throughout the year.

MORE THAN A PARTNERSHIP

Why it matters

Our relationship with St. Matthew’s Anglican School began before 28:19 Ministries even had a name. For more than a decade, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside the school, serving the children and families of Pomona, and responding to needs as they arise.

Over the years, that has looked like painting school buildings, putting in a sidewalk, supporting the school financially, celebrating Christmas together, and finding practical ways to help students and teachers. St. Matthew’s has also welcomed our teams, opened its doors for Bible Adventure Camp, and served alongside us in a community we both love.

After all these years, what began with serving alongside a school has become something much deeper. It’s a partnership built on trust, friendship, and a shared love for the children and families of Pomona.

what it looks like

how we partner

One of the ways we come alongside St. Matthew’s is by helping meet needs that allow the school to continue serving its students well. Over the years, that has meant covering school fees for students, installing security cameras to protect the school, providing supplies, and helping with other needs as they arise. Because of the generosity of our donors, we’re able to say yes when St. Matthew’s needs support and help provide some of the practical things that keep the school running day to day.

financial support

In 2022, we started celebrating Christmas with the students and staff at St. Matthew’s, and over the years, it has become one of our most special traditions. Because of the generosity of our donors, we’re able to put together a gift bag for every child at the school filled with Christmas treats, rice and beans for their family, and personal hygiene items. But the greatest gift we get to bring isn’t found inside the bag. It’s the true story of Christmas and the opportunity to remind every child that God loved them so much that He sent Jesus.

During our Christmas visit, we get to sit with every child at St. Matthew’s and take their school photo. Over the years, those photos have become really special to us. We get to look back and watch the kids grow, recognize familiar faces from Bible Adventure Camp, and reconnect with children we’ve gotten to know summer after summer.

St. Matthew’s doesn’t just allow us to serve their school. They serve alongside us too. Each summer, they graciously open their school to our Mission Experience team and give us a place to host Bible Adventure Camp and other ministry throughout the week. Having a space right in the heart of the communities we serve makes so much of our summer ministry possible, and we’re incredibly grateful for the way St. Matthew’s continues to welcome us year after year.

A MESSAGE from the principal

our partnershp

throughout the year

Our partnership with St. Matthew’s continues long after our team leaves Belize. Throughout the year, we stay connected with the school and help meet needs as they arise. From school fees and supplies to larger needs that help keep the school safe and running, we’re grateful to be able to come alongside them in practical ways.

year-round: ongoing support

Each summer, St. Matthew’s opens its doors to our Mission Experience team and becomes home to much of our ministry in the valley. We host Bible Adventure Camp, gather with children and families, and reconnect with so many of the students we’ve gotten to know over the years. St. Matthew’s doesn’t just give us a place to serve. They serve alongside us.

SUMMER: SERVING TOGETHER

Each December, we return to St. Matthew’s to celebrate Christmas with the students and staff. We take school photos, give every child a Christmas gift, and get another opportunity to spend time reconnecting with everyone we love. Most importantly, we get to remind every child why we celebrate Christmas in the first place, because God loved them so much that He sent Jesus.

CHRISTMAS: CELEBRATING & GIVING

Our relationship with St. Matthew’s is about more than meeting needs. It’s about investing in people. Through years of serving alongside the school, we’ve had the privilege of building relationships with students, teachers, and families we’ve come to know and love.

We believe meaningful ministry happens when we keep showing up. So whether we’re serving, giving, celebrating, or simply spending time together, our desire is to faithfully invest in the relationships God has given us.
