More than a mission trip, this experience equips believers to live out the Great Commission through discipleship, service, and lasting relationships.
Our story in Belize began in 2012, long before 28:19 Ministries had a name. Year after year, we returned to the same community. We learned names, watched children grow up, built friendships, shared the Gospel, and became part of one another’s lives.
The more we knew the people there, the more we loved them. And as the years passed, one thing became clear: the work God was doing there was not finished.
That is why we keep going back. Our Mission Experience is not about finding somewhere new to serve each summer. It is about returning to a place God called us to, continuing relationships that have grown over more than a decade, and inviting others to come alongside us.
Each summer, a team returns to Southern Belize to serve, share the Gospel, and spend time with people we now call family. Along the way, our team is challenged to grow too, learning what it looks like to make disciples, love people well, and say yes when God calls.
The Mission Experience begins long before we arrive in Belize. From our first commitment in February until we gather at the airport in July, our team spends months preparing to serve together. Through team meetings and a daily devotional, we spend time in God’s Word, get to know one another, and prepare our hearts for what God will do in and through us. We believe serving others well begins with allowing God to work in us first.
preparation & discipleship
Bible Adventure Camp has been part of our Mission Experience from the beginning. Each year, our team creates a new theme and curriculum to share the Gospel with children in a way that is fun, engaging, and centered on God’s Word. For four days, we gather for Bible lessons, worship, crafts, games, and activities that help children learn more about Jesus. Many of the kids return year after year, and seeing all of the familiar faces is one of our favorite parts of coming back to Belize.

Our afternoons give us opportunities to serve people throughout the communities we’ve grown to love. What that looks like changes from year to year as we respond to the needs in front of us. Over the years, we’ve hosted conferences, served families, prayed with people in their homes, provided food and clothing, and found practical ways to show the love of Jesus. In 2026, that included our first Love Conference, where people who had attended past conferences joined us in serving their own neighbors throughout the valley.
The activities may change, but the heart behind them doesn’t. We want to love the people God places in front of us and look for opportunities to serve them well.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Night of Worship brings people from across the valley together to worship, pray, and hear the Gospel. Families gather with us under a tent on the community football field, and year after year, we have watched God meet people there. We’ve seen people experience physical healing and give their lives to Jesus. It’s also where The Gathering began in 2023, when God stirred the heart of a local pastor.
Each year looks a little different, but we continue to gather with expectation, trusting the Lord to meet us there and do what only He can do.

Some of the most meaningful parts of the Mission Experience happen in the moments in between. Our teams are made up of people of different ages, backgrounds, churches, and seasons of life who come together with one thing in common: they said yes to going.
We share meals on the rooftop, worship together in the evenings, laugh a lot, pray for one another, and talk about what God is teaching us along the way. Living and serving side by side gives us the chance to really know one another and build relationships that continue long after we come home.
life as a team
When we first began serving in Belize, we could not have known what God would do through one simple yes. But year after year, we kept coming back.
Over time, children we met at Bible Adventure Camp grew up. Relationships became friendships. People we once served began serving alongside us. What started as one week of ministry each summer grew into something that continues long after our team goes home.
Today, we see that legacy in people who are following Jesus, serving their neighbors, raising their children to know Him, and making disciples of their own. We see it in The Gathering, in the relationships that continue throughout the year, and in familiar faces that greet us each summer.
This is why we return. Not because we believe one week can change everything, but because we have seen what God can do when we keep showing up, keep loving people, and keep saying yes.

There’s no commitment to join a team. It’s simply a way to stay connected as you pray about whether a future Mission Experience might be your next yes.
